Athletic Injuries and Illnesses: Response by Athletic Trainers and EMS
Class covers expectations for each type of responder and how to interact with the other. He will tailor it for the specific group and their local situation. It includes hands on practice with football gear. 1-2 hours

EMS Response to Behavioral Emergencies:
This is a basic introduction to general categories of behavioral emergencies and psychological classifications. 1 hour.

Penetrating Trauma Injuries:
Introduction into low and high velocity penetrating trauma with special considerations for each major body region. 1+ hour.

Becky Loyd:

Blood Borne Pathogens:
This lecture covers all aspect of Blood Borne Pathogen care, from keeping records, how to prevent injury and contamination, personnel protective equipment, as well as the basic pathology of the more common diseases. 1-2 hours

Patient Assessment:
This class uses a hands on approach to assessing the patient. Bring BP cuffs, stethoscopes and plan on getting involved with the training. 1 hour.

Karen Colony:

Obstetric Emergencies:
Karen is prepared to talk about the more common complications associated with this topic. 1-hour.

Patient Assessment: This is also a 1 hour class directing you into the major points of patient assessment and highlights the importance of your assessment in pre-hospitalization.

Mark Wyatt:

Pulse Oxymetry:
Mark will demonstrate the importance of what pulse oxymeter can and can not do. This power- point presentation is one you will not want to miss. 1 hour.

Jackie Heinle:

Burn Treatment:
As nursing coordinator of the University of Iowa's Burn Unit, Jackie has a wealth of insight to offer you on initial burn care. This lecture is 2 hours in length, but the slides of real patients makes the time go by quickly.
