May 2006 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 1715 at Johnson County Ambulance Service. Those present; Leo Kesler, Dave Dvorsky, Steve Stang, Matt Buffington, Kathy Riggle, Craig Cochran, Tony Cooling, Steve Spenler. Previous minutes were approved at 1716.
Treasurers report: Discussion of allocating remaining grant money. Balance to the five departments who submitted bills. We will keep the Proctor and Gamble donation in our account to be used for speaker fees at our next EMS Saturday. Report approved.
2007 EMS Saturday will be held February 17, 2007 at South Slope in North Liberty. Discussion on speakers. The committee will include; Dave Dvorsky, Matt Buffington, Tom Trump, and Mike McLaughlin. Lori Brooks and Eric Holt to work on a noon time presentation.
Discussion of new CPR standards. AED’s will be reprogrammed by Medtronics for free if you have a service contract. Contact Mark Letho for reprogramming. Services to adopt new standards when trained and certified. Until the AED’s are reprogrammed services can either continue with the stacked shocks followed by two minutes of CPR or a single shock followed by two minutes of CPR and then reanalyze and deliver a shock if indicated, etc. I will contact Dr. Huss for his preference and relay that to all. A reminder that the pediatric pads are to be used on patients from 1-8. This does not include 0-1 year of age.
The EMS Awareness Fair was held at Coral Ridge Mall along with Safe Kids on May 7. Thanks to all who attended.
We are waiting to hear back from the state in regards to our HRSA funds allocation.

At the next meeting elections will be held for the positions of President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Get nominations to the elections committee; Mindy Scott, Tony Cooling or Kathy Riggle. Upcoming events:
Oxford Dance July 8.
Swisher fun days will be the first weekend of August.
North Liberty fun days are June 8.
Next meeting August 23 in Lone Tree.
