Old Business:

EMS Saturday:

Dave Dvorsky gave a quick report on EMS Saturday there were a total of 153 people in attendance at this years Conference. Over all the evaluations this year were mostly positive only a few negative comments were received. A discussion was held on whether we seen a benefit from securing a National Speaker (Gary Ludwig) as the cost is much greater than tapping local resources. The group was in agreement that we should continue to seek out this level of speaker as long a we can secure them at a reasonable cost. It was suggested that the Association try and secure additional sponsors/funds outside of the state training dollars that could be used to offset the cost of the National Speakers as providing this type of speaker could boost our overall attendance. Which brought the question as to how many people the facility can accommodate? Tom Trump shared the building could accommodate approximately 200 with the current table configuration. But felt we could hold more if we were to use the 8’ rectangle tables vs. rounds. Two options for the rectangle tables were to borrow tables from Solon/Tiffin but this would require an additional crew to pick up, set up, tear down and return the tables. Scott Nibaur also suggested we talk with Aero Rental to see if they were willing to donate tables for the event.

It was decided to go ahead and book South Slope for next years event initial plans are to book it for the date of Feb 17, 2007.

Volunteers for next years EMS Saturday are Dave Dvorsky, Doug Campbell and Steve Spenler if anyone else is interested in helping or has ideas for speakers please let any of the officers know or contact a member of the committee.

Kiwanis’s Ped’s Bag Funding:

Tom shared that Chad Andrews is checking back into who is leading this effort as the ownership has changed. Kathy Riggle Swisher and Scott Nibaur shared they had been contacted by the Kiwanis’s and would be receiving training on the bags. Swisher training will be held on March 8th at 7:00 pm 3 CEH will be given for this class.

Allocation of remaining Training Dollars:

Just a reminder that this year’s remaining training funds will be distributed equally across the depts. vs. on a first come first serve basis. Each agency within JC except the career depts. will receive $450.00 why those dept that are outside of Johnson County will receive $225.00. to be used on training related bills. In order to receive these funds you must submit copies of you bills to Craig Cochran by the May 24th meeting as this will only leave approximately 2 ½ weeks for Craig to submit his reports to the State. If a dept has bills above and beyond the allocated amount they may be submitted as unused moneys will be reallocated if a dept does not submit for reimbursement. Remember all training must be completed for reimbursement. If submitting reimbursement for EMT-B classes the individual must have completed all aspects for the class and received their cards. If you are unable to attend the May meeting please send training bills to
Craig Cochran at PO Box 2, West Branch Iowa 52358

Future Training Funds

Every agency in JC had their onsite inspected except the Corps of Engineers and Swisher.
A discussion was had on the Associations future priorities it was decide that our 1st priority was to continue to sponsor EMS Saturdays so volunteers have an easy way to gain Continuing Education Hours. With our 2nd priority to provide initial EMS Training Classes – EMT-B.
